When your house is organized, it seems that your life runs a lot smoother. Everyday tasks in
the kitchen especially flow better when things are organized. Under the kitchen sink is a
notorious area for getting cluttered and unorganized. Organizing this space will certainly make
your kitchen more functional. Here’s a few tips to help get things under control.
It is always best to start with a blank, clean slate. Take everything out of your cabinet and clean
it thoroughly. You may like to measure and fit in a nice shelf liner to create a fresh looking base.
Examine your items to determine what will go back under there.
The inside of your cabinet doors is an often overlooked prime storage space. One idea is to
mount plastic bins on the inside of the doors. Small ones to store sponges and sink brushes,
larger ones to store dish soap and cleaning bottles. Another idea involves mounting curtain rod
holders with a dowel for storing trash bags or paper towel rolls. Another clever idea is to adhere
a plastic magazine holder to the inside cabinet door to house your aluminum foil, plastic wrap
and wax or parchment paper.
Inside your cabinet, instead of having your cleaning supplies piled up on each other, how about
organizing them in a cleaning caddy. This makes it easier to grab and take from room to room
to clean and then back neatly in the cabinet.
Eliminating packaging saves a surprising amount of space, especially if you buy in bulk. For
example, dishwashing tabs, take them out of their original package and store them in a smaller
air tight container. Also, kitchen sponges can be taken out of their packaging and stored in
something smaller.
These are just a few of hundreds of clever ideas to organize under your kitchen sink. Try a few
and see what works best for you!
