Windows are the essential eyes of our homes, giving us a view of the outside world and letting
healthful sunshine stream in, brightening up our inside world. If, however, your windows have a
film of dirt, grime, and water spots, our view, and the amount of light that shines in, is severely
restricted. Here, we will share a few tips to clean your windows inside and out to keep your
world bright.
Let us start with the dirtiest side, the outside. To begin with, remove your window screens.
Rinse them with a garden hose, then spray with a water and vinegar solution. Rinse again and
leave them to dry while you clean your windows. Use your garden hose to rinse the windows.
Next, you can get a bucket and create a simple solution of water from the hose and a few drops
of dish soap. Wipe the windows with the solution using a microfiber cloth and a sponge mop,
for higher windows. Rinse with clean water. Spray or mop with a window cleaner or the water
and vinegar solution. Finish off by wiping it dry with a rubber squeegee. Replace your clean,
dry window screens.
Now for the inside, the easier part. Start by removing any window treatments. With a damp
sponge or cleaning cloth wipe down the window frames and ledges. The rest is basically the
same procedure you used outside. Get a small bucket or pot of water with a few drops of dish
soap and gently scrub your windows with a microfiber cloth. Next, spray with a window cleaner
or water and vinegar solution and wipe with a dry microfiber cloth. You may need to repeat for
dirtier windows. Finish off by wiping again with only a dry microfiber cloth using a Z – or S –
shaped motion.
Voilà! You now have sparkling, clean windows to peer out into the world around you and let
more of that fabulous sunshine in.
